Danielle Zirkelbach Fenwick was born in New Haven Connecticut. Father, Richard Zirkelbach, and older brother, Matthew Zirkelbach, raised her. Danielle’s father enrolled Danielle and her brother into a series of athletics, including BMX bike racing, soccer, swimming, cross country, and several others.
“For Danielle Zirkelbach Fenwick, inspiration constantly surrounds her, almost as if experiences seek this woman out, looking to be explained through brush strokes and pigments. Danielle’s artwork not only reflects her own stories, but the stories of so many others that have made an impact. There’s a lot of fear involved in being who we want to be, but in the end, Danielle is proof that it is so worth it.”

My primary goal is to help surfers / athletes/ humans, improve their potential with movement, exercise, nutrition, and the foundations of athleticism.
It’s that simple.

Giving you the tools so you can keep yourself surfing (or any other athletic endeavor).

The field of health & fitness has got a lot of non-sense, misguided information, and claim exaggeration. I want to provide surfers, whom are interested in improving their health, their body, and their surfing, with highly credible information.

It’s all so you can boost health and performance, surf with more energy, eliminate pain, and improve your movement lifestyle and how you look after yourself.surf-coach

Jack O’neill

Jack Oneill

Welcome to Mushburger.com, the best way to follow your favorite surf blogs, find hundreds of new ones, and check out live Instagram and twitter feeds from pro and amateur surfers, shapers, photographers and more from all around the world.

Low-key and savvy surf industrialist from Santa Cruz, California; founder of O’Neill Wetsuits, the world’s leading manufacturer of surfing wetsuits. O’Neill was born (1923) in Denver, Colorado, and raised in Southern California and Oregon. He started bodysurfing in the late 1930s, and continued to do so after moving to San Francisco in 1949, where he got his B.A. in liberal arts from San Francisco State.

th      logo-oneill

O’Neill opened the prosaically titled Surf Shop out of a beachfront garage in San Francisco in 1952, and a few months later—inspired, he later said, by the neoprene foam flooring of a DC-3 passenger plane—he made his first neoprene wetsuit vest. (The original wetsuit prototypes were made in 1951 by a U.C. Berkeley physicist; Southern California’s Dive N’ Surf company, like O’Neill, began making wetsuits in 1952.) O’Neill opened a second Surf Shop in Santa Cruz in 1959, just prior to the first American surf boom. Surfboards were the primary sale item at first, but wetsuits became the shop’s defining product in the early ’60s, and by the end of the decade O’Neill was the industry leader.

h-jack

O’Neill lost sight in his left eye in 1971 after his leash-tethered surfboard snapped back and hit his face; the surf leash, ironically, had been invented the year before by Pat O’Neill, Jack’s son. (A stylized piratelike image of O’Neill with a full beard and eye patch would later be used as the company logo.) O’Neill was by that time the consummate behind-the-scenes operator of what was turning into a small international empire, hiring talented managers so that he could continue to surf and sail around Santa Cruz. He never brought attention to himself, and on the rare event when he spoke to the surf press he modestly attributed his success to little more than good timing. Industry insiders, however, regard O’Neill as perhaps the coolest and shrewdest surf businessman alive—the “rubber baron,” as surf journalist Ben Marcus later called him.

O’Neill was inducted into the International Surfing Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Huntington Beach Surfing Walk of Fame in 1998. Surfer magazine in 1999 named him as one of the “25 Most Influential Surfers of the Century,” and in 2000 he was given the Waterman Achievement Award from the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association.

Jack O’Neill: It’s Always Summer on the Inside, a biography written by former Surfer editor Drew Kampion, was published in 2011.

Joni Sternbach is a native New Yorker. She holds a BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts and an MA from New York University/International Center of Photography.

Sternbach uses both large format film and early photographic processes to create contemporary landscapes and environmental portraits. Her work centers on our relationship with water, contrasting some of the most desolate deserts in the American West to iconic surf beaches around the world.

Her work is included in many public collections, with the most recent acquisition from MOCA, Jacksonville, National Portrait Gallery in London and The Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City. She is the recipient of several grants and prizes including the Clarence John Laughlin award, NYFA and 2nd prize winner in the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize competition 2016.

SURF SITE TIN TYPE
Surf Site Tin Type is an homage to a sport, a way of life and to the people who practice it. Over the last decade, Joni Sternbach has created portraits in tintype of contemporary surfers that put the world of surfing in a completely new light. Stunning in their detail, these unique images evoke the romance of surfing and the strong individualism of the men and women who live to ride the waves. Working with a large format camera and using hand-poured plates, Sternbach has profiled a fascinating range of people, both known and unknown on prized surfing beaches around the world, from Malibu to Montauk, across the ocean to Cornwall, UK to Byron Bay, Australia. Typical surfing photographs are action shots, riding the mighty wave and in vivid color, while Sternbach turns to a historic technique to capture something essential and even primordial in these portraits and settings.Surf Site Tin Type features texts by noted photo critic and historian Lyle Rexer, curator of photography at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, April M. Watson and champion surfers, writers, and filmmakers Chris Malloy and Johnny Abegg.Published by Damiani Editore 20152nd edition now in stock!

Welcome to Mushburger.com, the best way to follow your favorite surf blogs, find hundreds of new ones, and check out live Instagram and twitter feeds from pro and amateur surfers, shapers, photographers and more from all around the world.

7TILL8 references “glass off”, the hour before sunset when winds settle and the ocean becomes ‘glassy’. Typically from 7 until 8pm, it’s the ideal time for surfers and divers to hit the water and perform to their best abilities without distractions. The 7TILL8 wetsuit strives to reduce any unnecessary distractions during this peak hour.

It’s also an excellent time to build wetsuits. As the late afternoon air temperature drops, it keeps glues sticky for optimal wetsuit adhesion.

7TILL8 represents our dedication to building the perfect custom wetsuit for the
surf & dive community.
