From Kelia’s About Page “I grew up in a house of seven, mom, dad, and four brothers! There was never a dull moment in the Moniz house. I loved having brothers and till this day still do. And thats how I got the name Sister. Being the second oldest out of five I held upper hand most of the time! And acted like a  little mom. In my younger years I was tomboy that was always in the mix of all the boys. I was around boys twenty four seven and they kept me very tough. Never really cried for no reason like normal girls did, never really dressed up, I guess I just thought I was one of them! When the boys friends would come over I would love it, being so boy crazy but then I would get to know them better and realize that hmm, they are just another addition to the family, pretty much becoming another boy figure! So, the name Sister really started to stick because hey, she’s just like our Sister! haha… Welcome to the Sisterhood!”

Here at Mushburger, we see a LOT of surf photos. Sometimes there even comes a point after hours of pouring through surf blogs where we almost can’t bear to see another perfect glassy barrel (gasp!). Roxy Bio

Jen Smith can attribute her fun, laid-back style and commitment to surfing to her upbringing. She was inspired by her father, a San Diegan surf fixture and skateboard shop owner. Jen grew up biking to the La Jolla reefs after school, and spent all of her free time surfing (and working at her dad’s skate shop).
By ten, she’d entered her first surf contest and made the final. “I was stoked and hungry for more,” she recalls. She competed in as many events as she could and found quick success, becoming the World Longboard Champ in 2007 and 2009.
Still, Jen finds just as much fulfillment in freesurfing. “I try to find a balance between competing and staying happy, enjoying the everyday things in life. I’m a simple person and I appreciate everything,” she says. “I have a great lifestyle. I can’t even count all the countries I’ve been to on one hand. As a surfer, you’re always looking for new moments, new waves and new spots. In that respect, I feel pretty good.”

Kassia Meador is a professional free surfer and amateur photographer from Southern California known for her talented style on a longboard. She grew up in the San Fernando Valley and began surfing before her 16th birthday. She honed her skills in the breaks around Malibu and Ventura, known for long right handed point breaks and colorful personalities both of which helped her to develop her unique flow on a surfboard.
